You have to believe, we ARE magic

Xanadu has come to Australia. Yes, the roller skating movie to beat ALL roller skating movies has been turned into a stage show and is touring Down Under right now. And we're going to see it tonight.

Lady Hem is a LOT more excited about this than I am. I'm going for the 'irony factor.' Read: will enjoy it despite myself. She will LOVE it. She has the album and has been playing it to death the last month or so. If nothing else, I should recognise most of the songs.

But with this whole talk of Xanadu, it got me thinking about things that we're missing in the '00's. Is it '00's now that we're into '11? I'm not sure; someone will correct me. What we're missing in the '00's, the one thing that you can just NEVER get enough of, is this:

Well, not John Farrar per se but, songwriters with beards. And that shiny mane, I mean, nothing screams classic songwriter than a shiny mane of hair and a beard, does it? It's that whole 'I'm just doing this until my CPA qualifications come through,' look. And who doesn't love THAT in their songwriters?

I certainly do. These days, beards are all about ruggedness and unkemptness; you have to look like a pirate if you grow a beard in this day and age. But just gaze on that picture of John Farrar; now THERE'S a beard to be proud of. THERE'S a shiny mane you could groom yourself in. There is a man, who knows what a classic song is supposed to sound like.

Beardy.

Is ONJ going to star in it again? She was hot in the first one!

BeckEye: you were right, it was awesome!!

Eric: no ONJ but it was great nonetheless. I enjoyed it a lot more than I should have.

Yeah I don't think you can be a serious songwriter if you're all perfectly coiffed and shiny looking. You need some lived in look. :) Also, it's awesome that you are BACK, dear Sir!

I also knew the second i saw the word "Xanadu" there, that BeckEye would appear like magic. It's like rubbing a lamp and getting a genie. :)

Someone dragged me to Xanadu when it was on Broadway and I ended up having a pretty nice time, despite myself. Kira's intentionally over-the-top Aussie accent was particularly amusing. How'd you like it?

Veg: Thanks for the welcome back. I don't know, isn't a beard sort of lived in? Perfectly groomed though, I agree, is not the greatest.

UB: I really did enjoy it a lot more than I thought I would. It was very funny and extremely well sung. Band was great too.
