You snooze, you lose.

I don't know why but it's the last ten minutes before the alarm goes off that is the best sleep.

During the working week, I get up every morning at six o'clock. I don't have to; I want to. I've always been a good morning person; I find it hard to stay up really late. The thing is, now that I've been doing it for so long, I automatically wake up before the alarm. Sometimes just before; mostly an hour or so before.

Which isn't too bad. But, even when I know I have that hour still to sleep, I find I'm only twilight sleeping. Just waiting for the alarm to ring.

Except ten minutes before it goes off. For some reason - that I'm sure has a perfectly valid medical name - I find myself going into deep sleep JUST BEFORE the alarm rings. Not when I'm already mostly awake. No, my body rebels and decides I need to be asleep before the alarm rings. Bastard.

Of course, I could just get up when I wake naturally but, then what would I blog about?

You could try setting the alarm to go off later. If your body prefers getting up early, it should do it naturally. The alarm is there to stop you being late for something.

Do you know what I love? Waking up at about 2:30 a.m. and realizing that I still have another two and a half hours of sleep left. I drift back to sleep with a smile on my face.

I get up at 430 to work out before work. Invariably, I wake up at 330 which is too soon to get up and painfully close to 430. These are the trials and tribulations of my life.

My favorite feeling in the world is waking up in the middle of the night and realizing that I still have 4 or 5 hours of sleep left.

My most hated feeling in the world is waking up 15 minutes before my alarm goes off.

GB: I've set if for as late as I dare. But you're definitely onto something.

UB: yeah, I don't mind that.

BdV: I'm hearing ya.

V: Oooooooh yeah.
